Michael Adamson was born in 1971 and currently lives in Toronto, ON. After graduating from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver in 1997 he continued his art studies in Germany. Adamson began exhibiting in 1998 and has had many shows in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. His work is instantly recognizable for its bright colours, lush paint and overall energetic exuberance.
Adamson is interested in the structural language of colour and texture and concentrates on the relationship between colour and form. He builds his canvases with every brush stroke – developing the layers through definite marks, drips and scrapings. The grids and abstract shapes are occasionally punctuated with specific dots of colour, making each abstract painting visually pleasing.
