Gary Michael Dault is a Toronto writer, artist and art critic. He has taught at a number of Canadian universities and has written for many newspapers and magazines including Azure, Canadian Art, Toronto Life, Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. He currently writes the "Gallery Going" column every Saturday for the Globe and Mail.

The exhibition "The 50 Minute Hour" includes 50 small landscape paintings completed strictly within 1-minutes time. The paintings were inspired by an early morning waiting-game with Dault's son. The quickly rendered paintings on various cereal and cracker boxes become immediate, fresh and playful landscapes of waves, icebergs, snowfields or forest floors.
