| "Abstraction: Three Generations” features abstract paintings by three generations of Saskatchewan artists: Robert Christie, Jonathan Forrest and William Perehudoff. All have a common interest in using geometric compositions in order to explore colour and surface relationships. The three artists are colleagues who have had an ongoing dialogue for several decades and have recently participated in several national & international exhibitions together. Bob Christie was born in Saskatoon in 1946. He studied art at the University of Saskatchewan and has participated in several Emma Lake Artists' Workshops. The artist's work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Canada since 1969 and his work is represented in both public and private collections throughout Canada. Jonathan Forrest was born in 1962 in Edinburgh, Scotland and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1977. Forrest studied at the University of Saskatchewan receiving his BFA in 1983 and his MFA in 1991. Jonathan has participated in several artists' workshops including The Emma Lake Artists' Workshop. His work has been shown in public galleries such as the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon, The Edmonton Art Gallery and The Dunlop Art Gallery, Regina. William Perehudoff was born near Saskatoon in 1919 and by the mid 1960’s he was considered to be one of Canada’s major abstract painters. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s he was an active participant in the Emma Lake Artists' Workshops and participated in workshops led by many internationally recognized abstract artists. His work has been widely exhibited in Canada with museum shows at the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon, The Edmonton Art Gallery and the Glenbow Art Gallery, Calgary.
