Brian Jones: Private Window

Private Window       November 29 - December 27, 2008

This was the first exhibition of drawings, watercolours and paintings to celebrate Brian Jones’s incredible artistic life (1950 - 2008).

From a 1971 self portrait created fresh out of Beal Art School, to a detailed watercolour of the artist’s backyard, to familiar “Neighbour” paintings from the 1980s, this exhibition will give you a sense of Brian’s vivid imagination, sense of humour and original point of view of the world.

“Private Window” demonstrated how Brian worked as an artist: how he worked from sketch to drawing, watercolour to painting.

Brian Jones was born in 1950 in Chatham, ON.  Upon completion of his training at H.B. Beal Technical School in London and after a brief apprenticeship with Jack Chambers, Brian became determined to pursue full time painting.

From the very beginning, his work depicted people during moments in their everyday lives - walking the dog, shovelling snow, picnicking in the park and visiting the grandparents.
