Darrell Bell

On the Prairie, On the Farm, On the Beach      June 24 - July 10, 2010

For 2 weeks in May 2010, Saskatoon artist Darrell Bell spent time exploring South Western Ontario. He painted on a farm in North London, spent a week in Grand Bend and travelled through the rolling landscape of Huron County.

Bell was inspired by the multiple shades of green and the incredible sense of atmosphere within the fields and meadows.

The paintings in the show combine big sky prairie landscapes from Bell’s home province of Saskatchewan with paintings from the Ontario farm and Lake Huron.

This was Darrell Bell’s first exhibition with the gallery. Bell was born in Lanigan, Sask in 1959. Bell received a BFA from the University of Saskatchewan and has been painting the prairie landscape for 25 years. In 1998 he had a survey show of paintings at the Mendel Art Gallery and has work in the collections of London Life, University of Saskatchewan and the Mendel Art Gallery.
