New Paintings January 11 - February 16, 2008
This was the third solo exhibition for Harold Klunder at the Michael Gibson Gallery. Complex, richly textured and extremely colourful, these new paintings explore the abstract human form through the development of colour and organic shapes.
Harold Klunder is acclaimed as one of the finest abstract painters working in Canada today. Born in The Netherlands, Klunder has been painting professionally since 1970. His practice reflects a diversity of interests including painting, printmaking, photography, performance and improvisational music. His work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Musee d’art contemporain de Montreal and the Musee des beaux arts de Montreal. He currently resides in Montreal and maintains a second studio in Flesherton, ON.
