Aganetha Dyck — Honeybee Alterations at the Ottawa School of Art, March 3 – April 13, 2014

 

The Ottawa School of Art is pleased to present Honeybee Alterations; an exhibition featuring works by Aganetha Dyck. The exhibition takes place from March 3 to April 13, 2014 at the Ottawa School of Art’s ByWard Market Gallery. Join us for the opening vernissage March 6 from 5pm to 8pm to meet the artist.

Aganetha Dyck is a Canadian artist whose artistic career spans four decades. Dyck has a keen interest in environmental issues; her current research delves into the world of the honeybees and specifically the inter-species communication that exists between humans and bees. Her current exhibition allows viewers an intimate look at the delicate and fragile nature that exists between us. Dyck’s collaboration with the bees produces sculptural alterations of man-made objects such as shoes, helmets and porcelain statues that could never have been created without this collaboration.

Michael Gibson Gallery was pleased to lend “Arrival”, “An Inconvenient Proposal” and “Dancing Peasant” to this exhibition.
