| Harold Klunder’s work has been shown extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia and is represented in many public and private collections including the National Gallery of Canada, Art Gallery of Ontario, Musee de Contemporain, Montreal, and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Elected to the Royal Canadian Academy (RCA) in 1983, he has taught and lectured at many universities and art schools across Canada, as well as schools in the U.S. and South East Asia. In a recent interview with James D. Campbell, Klunder discussed his ongoing engagement with the painting process: “... I should stress that I paint for myself so it's always very much an inner experience and often related to past works. But I think probably mostly I'm painting the same painting every time, only hoping it gets better each and every time. I paint from my insides out, and this is perhaps why people perceive my work on a very visceral level.” |
