Harold Klunder: New Paintings

Catalogue of Harold Klunder's first exhibition with the Michael Gibson Gallery. These paintings allude to the human body in its molecular make-up, its earthly physicality, and its place within a context of others.  Just as Klunder becomes engaged in the process of each work, the paintings promise to engage their viewers.   Introduction and interview with Robert Enright, images of the exhibition and artist chronology included.

Klunder’s drips and edges, stunning colour harmonies and discords make it necessary to witness these paintings in person.

Originally from the Netherlands, Klunder now lives and works in both small-town Ontario and Newfoundland.  Painting professionally since 1970, Klunder has taught at OCA and the Toronto School of Art.  His work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada and Art Gallery of Ontario.
