Greg Curnoe & Diana Thorneycroft are included in the Art Gallery of Alberta’s “Sports! The Art of Competing” Exhibit

The Art Gallery of Alberta has just opened “Sports! The Art of Competing”, an exhibition that draws on representations of sport in a variety of artistic media.  Many celebrate the fun of the game and physical achievement, or champion athletes as role models.  Others question racial and gender-based stereotypes that are revealed through sport.

Included in the exhibition is a wide variety of artists from Andy Warhol to Alex Colville as well as Greg Curnoe’s “Hockey Stick Blades from West Lions Park” print and Diana Thorneycroft’s “March Storm, Georgian Bay” photograph.
